✦ PREORDERS OPEN FRIDAY JAN 13, 2023 ✦
Journey with us into deadly seas, exploring the darkest implications of the One Piece world — its most notorious figures, lethal beasts and ancient turmoils. Treasures lurk beneath the waves for those who dare to dive.

A CANON COMPLIANT exploration of the darker themes within the world of One Piece and the characters that inhabit it. Here we will emphasize the unsettling horror elements visible (or implied) in One Piece's ongoing narrative.

CONTENT WARNINGS

Please consider your tolerance for some of the included content contained before purchasing. This list encompasses most but not all warnings for content included, feel free to reach out by our socials or email if you'd like further details.Warnings:- Gore, Violence and Torture
- Implied Sexual Assault
- Child Abuse / Death
- Reproductive Horror
- Genocide
- Animal Death
- Thalassophobia
- Insects
- Cannibalism
- Self Harm / Suicidal Ideation
- Decapitation / Dismemberment

WHAT IT IS

- Based on/expanding upon canon story and source material, pushing already existing themes, characters, storylines, places or creatures to an extreme.- Taking a more thorough look into upsetting implied canon, including but not limited to topics like genocide, physical/mental/emotional abuse, starvation, body horror and modification, bio warfare, cannibalism, manipulation, depression and suicidal ideation, addiction and drug distribution, slavery, systemic prejudice, and many more. We ask that these themes be approached thoughtfully and creatively, but do not wish to shy away from how complex the world building of One Piece can be.- All that being said, we're absolutely also looking for some more 'fun' aspects of horror more along the lines of, "Hey what if two guys killed each other on a boat? Would that be fucked up or what?" Not all horror stories have to be dreary, there's plenty of humor to be found at the gallows.- Interpretive, flexible with canon design and plot if it suits the theming, but close enough it is not arguably 'non-canon' or incompatible within in-universe rules.- Check out our VISUAL INSPIRATION and STORY INSPIRATION.- Find a growing list of potential themes, characters and plot points already suggested to us HERE. This list is far from complete - if there is something you'd like to explore that is not listed here, don't hold back! We'd like to hit a wide range of both the evident and obscure and will consider whatever concepts fit within the goals of this project.

WHAT IT ISN'T

- Based on non-canon content (Treasure Cruise cards, colorspreads, AUs, crossovers, movies*, filler, etc)
- Overly camp or halloween-themed. If you are interested in something more lighthearted, check out our partner project here.

* There may be some wiggle room for concepts drawn from OP movies such as Baron Omatsuri and Gold-- as Movie 6 is a large inspiration for this project, and Gold has a similar tone of an adventure turning terrifying that we're interested in. We're down to consider any pitch as long as it aligns with the feeling of this project and doesn't stray too far from the goal.

RULES

- This project is RATED R. No one under 18 will be allowed to apply or purchase.
- This project is FOR PROFIT. Contributors are promised a digital copy of the zine, as well as an even split of profits. We aim to get each contributor a physical copy if there are enough sales.
- This project aims to go into many disturbing topics but we ask there be no content centered around explicit sexual assault. We do not wish to be dismissive of the implications within canon events, but as with the other potential themes we ask that it be approached respectfully.

- Please submit 3-5 of your best works, preferably in the style you aim to use for this project. If you have something that you feel fits this project well but may not be exemplary of your abilities, or alternatively may not be in the style you want to use but still shows off your talents, please include it in your extra portfolio link. We encourage you to always include some form of further portfolio if possible, as that can often be a deciding factor between close applications.
- If sharing using Google Drive, please double check your share settings so we can access them easily!
- While we're fine with potentially upsetting imagery and topics by nature of this project, please include any content warnings you feel are necessary.
- You must submit at least 5 - 10 characters/groups/settings/themes/etc. that you're interested in exploring in the order of which you'd prefer to work on. We would like to try to get a large cast of characters included. There will likely be repetition of some more popular characters, but they will be limited. If there are rarer ones you find fit this project and aren't seen frequently, feel free to cast them in your application.

-FOR ARTISTS
- Digital and traditional media are accepted, but traditional media needs to be scanned or photographed in a good quality.
- We're very interested in media outside traditional forms of singular illustration as well. If you enjoy things like comics, mixed media, sculpture, textiles, video and sound, etc. Keep an eye out for our OTHER MEDIA position form during applications!

- 1 COVER ARTIST: The cover artist will be asked to work closely with the Graphic Design mods to create a cover + back wrap fitting the theme and aesthetics of this project. Previous cover work or the knowledge of how to interweave text with illustration is a strong bonus for this position.
- 30 - 40 ZINE ARTISTS: Artists will be asked to create 1-2 illustrations centered around our theme. There are options for single page illustrations, as well as spreads.
- 3 - 5 COMIC ARTISTS: Comic artists will be asked to create a single 2 - 6 page comic centered around our theme.
- 10 ZINE WRITERS: Writers will be asked to create one fic up to 3,000 words/5 pages. You may also choose to do multiple smaller fics or other creative writing, but they must be split between that word limit cap. This position is inherently collaborative, as all writers will be assigned an artist to create a 'cover' for their work. There will also be an optional digital anthology with no space limit for writers who have many stories to tell.
- 10 - 12 COLLAB ARTISTS: Collab artists will be assigned to a writer and work with them and create a 'cover', 'poster' or more traditional illustration of a scene for that fic. Knowledge of typography/interweaving text with illustration is not absolutely necessary, but may be a bonus for this position.
- POTENTIAL PODFIC ILLUSTRATORS may be asked to create a 'title' illustration along with 3-4 smaller spot illustrations.
- 1 - 2 POTENTIAL PODFIC WRITERS: Podfic writers will be asked to create a horror story between 9k - 15k words (or multiple stories within that word count, how it's divided will be up to the individual writer(s)). This will be made into a digital booklet with illustration, but will also be read aloud and edited into full Podfic(s).
- 2-4 OTHER: Into sculpture? Animation, video, narrative reading, song or sound editing? Cloth and embroidery? Some other skill that you feel would fit this project well? We want to see the darkest reaches of your creativity.
- 6 - 8 MERCH WRITERS: Merch Artists will be asked to create two designs centered around our theme. Merch artists may be asked to pick from a set of given color schemes to work with, further details will be discussed in the Discord.
